NEW HAMPSHIRE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Situated near Loudon, New Hampshire, the New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS) is a 1 mile oval with a 1.6 mile road course with 12 degrees banking. Every year the Speedway hosts a full slate of SCCA regional, an SCCA National, two NASCAR Busch Grand National North races, a NASCAR Winston Cup race, an Indycar race and various and diverse motorcycle races.

HISTORY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

With the total seating facility of 101,000, the New Hampshire International Speedway is the largest audience sports events in New England hosting two NASCAR Winston Cup Series races every year. NHIS is easily accessible from Vermont and Canada with one hour from Boston, two hours from Portland, Maine, and Providence, R.I. While the NHIS has been developed on the site of the old Bryar Motorsports Park, the road course does not run on any of the old Bryar track, although the outfield section resembles the joining section of the old track to some extent.

The two-story building along turn four is the only obstruction in the infield. As the scoring board only lists the top six or seven places, the local MRN/PRN radio station broadcasts the scores. New Hampshire was hosted its first race in 100-degree temperatures, unusual for the region. Rusty Wallace won the inaugural race starting in the 33rd position leaving Martin the runner up. Mark Martin was the first winner with a lap of 126.871 mph. Unfortunately Davey Allison raced his final Winston Cup and finished as third runner up. Every year they Speedway is hosting NASCAR Winston Cup, NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck and AMA Super bike races.

New Hampshire obtained a second date removing North Wilkesboro Speedway from the track in 1997. Jeff Gordon won the inaugural race with Ken Schrader winning the pole position. In September 1996, Gordon stood as the last winner at North Wilkesboro's final race. The first time the NASCAR Winston Cup Series competed in the state in July 1993 in the NHIS. The track was completely new to the drivers in nearly 30 years, when the series had run on the course. The first NASCAR Busch Series held in 1990.

More than 101,000 people visit the New Hampshire international Speedway to watch the race. It is a 1.058-mile speedway with 12-degree banking in all four turns. The length of the front straightaway and back straight-aways is both 1,500 feet. Every year the New Hampshire International Speedway is host to two Winston Cup races every season.Features DiagramMost fans come from throughout the Northeast to the Speedway as it is one hour from Boston, two hours from Portland, Maine and is also easily accessible from Canada. New Hampshire hosts two races every year, the New England 300 in July and the Sylvania 300 in September.

Among the 101,000 fans, 10,000 people watch the race in either the luxury boxes, the infield or on the road race course overlooking the backstretch of the course, surrounding a 1-mile oval track, on a 1,000 acre lot. Mostly like to watch from the grandstand seats. The Speedway also provides free parking around the track (dirt roads with lots covered in woodchips). There is also a provision to park in a satellite lot for the late arrivals. The traffic cops shove the busses along with the fans. NHIS has also made the provision of race tickets for all RV drivers for Fall 2000 Race before driving onto the property. This new track was planned to putting up very low garages and the backstretch, prominent six feet for better viewing. The slope of the seats is gradual, so there is not a vast improvement from a $ 70 Row 15 seat to a $ 90 Row 40 seat.
